Sanxia (Three Gorge) Airport is located in the Xiaoting District of Yichang City, 26 kilometers away from the city center and 55 kilometers from the Three Gorges Dam site.
Sanxia Airport was built in 1993 and finished in 1996.The airport has played an important role in the construction of the Three Gorges Dam Project.

There are 6 shuttle buses running between Sanxia Airport and Yichang city center every day. The buses leave from Qingjiang Hotel in the city center 2 hours ahead of each flight. It takes about 50 minutes, and the fare is CNY20. Taxis are also available from the airport.
